Anime Blog 33: Eden of the East

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eden_of_the_East
Eden of the East is an 11 episode Shonen? with 2 movies that I watched Subbed.

Ok so to be honest the first time I saw Eden of the East was the first meeting of the Nashi anime club that I attended. The first episode is HILARIOUS! Dude wakes up naked with a cellphone and a gun...and talks to people in English! The show was really confusing but I loved it!

The idea of a game in which you have 12 contestants who are given 10 billion yen to save Japan in some way, shape, or form fascinates me. You use the cellphone to contact a concierge who can grant almost your every wish--for a price...if you run out of money or if you use it selfishly...you get killed :D .

OH! And the censor bars over the "johnnies" are funny little moving white squiggles...it's so cute!

The main character, Akira, wakes up naked (as I mentioned before) with no clue who he is or about the game he's playing. He and our female lead Saki gradually figure it out and try to save Japan. The two movies are sequels to the series and I felt they were actually pretty good.

To show you how sick of a person I am (just kidding!) My favorite competitor, well other than Akira,  was number 11: Shiratori (the serial killer chick). She was hot. I will include a pic.

(L: Akira, R: Saki)

(Shiratori)

So anyways. I really like the opening video for Eden of the East...but I don't care too much for the song...oh well. You should watch the video though, it uses beautiful imagery.

Lets move on to pros and cons

PROS:
  • Really interesting storyline
  • Great comedy
  • Shiratori
  • Short and sweet with a good ending
  • Good sequel movies
CONS:
  • Confusing...
But that's it. So I feel like y'all should watch it! Thanks for reading!

Until Next Time,

Anime Blog 32-Durarara!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durarara!!

Ok so Durarara!! is a 61 episode shonen (that I watched dubbed)

The story follows(???) Mikado Ryugamine, his friend Masaomi and LOTS of other people in Ikebukuro. In Ikebukuro there is a gang war going on, a "black rider" with no head, and two guys just fighting all the time because they hate each other, one of whom has superhuman strength. Now of course there's a real story behind all of that but hey, I'm not gonna be the one who spoils it for you! I will tell you the main gang is "The Dollars", the black rider is named Celty, and the two guys are Shizuo Heiwajima (Crispin Freeman!) and Izaya Orihara (Johnny Yong Bosch!).

The story can definitely get confusing but it's really good I promise! And I LOVE the fact that all the background characters who don't matter don't have faces are aren't colored in...it makes things strangely interesting.
Ok so I'm mostly in it for Shizuo...and I'm a strong supporter of the Shizaya DJ coupling (DJ = Doujinshi, AKA: Fan-fic version of manga)

Also just to fangirl about VA (voice actors) other than the ones mentioned above, Shinra is played by Yuri Lowenthal (Sasuke in Naruto), Kadota is Steve Blum (Vincent Valentine in FF7), Saburo is Spike Spencer (Ginta from MAR among tons more that he's better known for!), & Izaya is Johnny Young Bosch (Ichigo in Bleach among others).

**UPDATE: So after watching season 2: The story gets a bit more confusing but so many things get tied up in the end. So much that was unexpected :) I thoroughly enjoyed this show :) More characters are introduced including a russian assassin girl named Verona and a woman named Kisane Kugiragi. I can tell you Celty gets her head back...but I can't tell you what happens after that :)
They totally left a hint for a sequel though :)

ART!
(L to R): Izaya, Shinra, Shizuo, Masaomi, Mikado, Anri, (Celty on the bike in BG)

Also, Durarara!! has one of my favorite anime openings:

Season 2 was aired in 3 parts and I really like the opening to season 2 part 3!

So time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Really good story
  • Shizuo
  • Nice art
  • Shizaya coupling...
  • Really surprising twists in the storyline
  • NEED I REPEAT MYSELF?
Cons:
  • Can get confusing...a lot...

So there you go! GO WATCH IT...NOW! lol, jkjk

Thanks for reading, Until next time,

~Kei

Anime Blog 31: Devil May Cry: The Animated Series

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_May_Cry:_The_Animated_Series

Alright I'm going to start out by saying that I LOVE the Devil May Cry game series. I've beaten 1-3 and I'm working on 4 now...slow going because the 360 belongs to my little brother and he's back home while I'm up at the college...no DMC4 for me (which let me throw out there...Nero is played by Johnny Yong Bosch...teehee!) Ok enough ranting there.

So the animated series is 12 episodes long and there is a plot but sometimes it doesn't seem like there is one: and I'm totally fine with that because I LOVE Dante! I love that the anime makes him obsessed with strawberry sundaes...it's just hilarious! He's still the same wise-cracking bada** from the games but now he has a weakness: those sundaes man...and pizza...that's all he eats.

Also Lady and Trish are back! And they both cause lots of trouble for Dante that includes (but isn't limited to) stealing his pay and sticking him with shopping bills. There's also that little girl Patty and I'm not sure how I feel about her...she's kinda cute...and she picks on Dante...yeah.

So the art is really nice (not as awesome as the games except in style) and I like that the anime follows Dante in his everyday life...which for him is like hell on Earth most of the time...but hey, a guy's gotta make a living right? Plus Ebony, Ivory, and Rebellion are involved!

ART!

(Dante)

I tried to find one with him, Lady, and Trish in it but I didn't like the one I found!

So time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Based on Devil May Cry
  • Dante
  • Didn't have a bad story
  • Dante
  • Brought Lady and Trish back
  • Did I mention Dante?
Cons:
  • ...cons...hmm...cons?
So because I actually can't think of any...Pros win! (even if I didn't repeat Dante 3 times!)

Thanks for reading, until next time,

~Kei

Anime Blog 30: Descendants of Darkness

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Descendants_of_Darkness

Hello once more! I am still alive I promise!

So today's anime is a 13 episode Shojo called Descendants of Darkness. This is actually one I watched recently (and mostly because it has Shonen-ai themes) :)

Ok so quick summary there's this organization that investigates suspicious deaths (by hands of vampires and such...) and Tsuzuki works for them but has no partner. He is partnered up with this new kid named Hisoka. The two originally don't get along but with the help of Uber-evil Dr. Muraki (not the good kind of help) the partners begin to get along and understand each other. After that a lot of Fit hits the Shan (if you know what I mean XD ) and lots of deep dark secrets emerge not only about Hisoka and Muraki's previous "relationship" but things about why Tsuzuki hasn't had a partner in so long and the like.

So I really enjoyed watching this (I saw it Dubbed in case anyone wants to know). I really liked the art and the show itself (except for some of the creepy flashbacks...and Muraki...I don't like Muraki) but even though the show was really confusing I still liked it (especially the Tarot card arc, that was awesome!) And this is really random but Watari (the blonde guy) is played by Eric Stuart who plays James and Brock in Pokémon :p

Now there were some hinted shonen-ai scenes (and some more Yaoi-ish scenes but not in a good way) in the show but the show doesn't really focus on that too much and it doesn't have enough to be counted as shonen-ai by demographic (though I wonder about some shows and their tags...)

So ART!

(L to R: Gushoshin, Muraki, Hisoka, Tsuzuki, Tatsumi, Watari, The other Gushoshin)

But now time for Pros and Cons!

Pros:
  • Shonen-ai-esque
  • Good art
  • Neat story idea
Cons:
  • Creepy Dr. Muraki
  • Really confusing story
Pros seem to outweigh the cons again today! I hope those of you who are interested will give Descendants of Darkness a chance!

Till next time and thanks for reading!

Anime Blog 29: Death Note

Wiki Page

So today's anime is Death Note, a 37 episode Shonen with 3 Live Action movies and an 11 episode Live Action Japanese Drama.

**UPDATE: The end of the Live Action Drama teased a trailer for a 2016 Live Action Movie. This post will be updated after that film is released.

So I watched Death Note when it came on Adult Swim and I fell in love with it! I liked that he became a criminal killer until he went crazy (because they were catching on to him) and had to start killing EVERYONE! I loved the fact that Light was his own antagonist. Oh and I love the fact that L's real name is *SPOILER!* L. Dumbest name ever...

I also thought the live action movies were done really well and casted superbly. However L Change the World was a little weird for me because it changed how things really happened....

On another note this is the anime that I got my mother hooked on. She loves Death Note! She honestly wants one. I was going to buy her one for Christmas but she told me that if it didn't actually work she would kill me...so needless to say, I didn't buy one. I also thoroughly enjoy the opening especially the parody of  Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel ceiling. That was a really nice touch. And Ryuk was just an awesome character...I mean he warned Light at the beginning and actually made good on his promise at the end.

**UPDATE 2015: The Live Action drama was...interesting. It changed Light from a genius into an average guy. The story followed the same basic route and even though I didn't like the actors as much as the Live Action Movie actors, they weren't too bad. My main complaint: That Near and Mello were one character. Apparently Near has a split personality and that's who Mello is...that was weird for me. Not a fan. But I did actually like Misa in this version. Not 100% sure why but I actually liked her a lot in this version :D

So for fans of the show, you may or may not like it. Depending on a number of things. I personally liked it well enough, the anime was better, but it was ok :D

Anywayz...ART!

(Bottom L to Bottom Right: Near, L, Light (middle), Misa, and Mello)

(L to R: L, Ryuk (in back), Light, Rem (Back), Misa)

Ryuk, Light, L, and Near

But yeah...and Opening!
Ok time for pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Unique storyline
  • Protagonist is own Antagonist
  • Well done casting (for the live actions)
  • Really good story
Cons:
  • Watching Light go crazy can be a bit much sometimes...
Yeah but that's about it. I can't find any other cons with it really!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

~Kei23

Anime Blog 28: Bus Gamer

Well...after forever I have returned. For those of you who actually follow this you will have noticed that I no longer post anything about my anime forum; unfortunately it's dead and burned and from now on I'm going to go back and post the wiki page (or equivalent) to give extra info for those of you who care about what really happened in the anime! :D

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bus_Gamer

Moving on: Bus Gamer was 3 episodes of OMG I LOVE THIS SHOW! The premise was that a whole bunch of companies in some city (probably Tokyo) are going to play a game involving 3-man teams fighting over a disk that contains all of an individual company's secrets. Basically protect your team's disk at all costs and try to steal the other team's disk. People actually send in applications for this game because depending on the number of rounds you win...the more money you get.

3 random people turn in an application and all 3 of them leave one question on the application blank...thus they become a team and have to work together...they're all completely different.  Toki is a really good fighter, Nobuto is also a good fighter (but in a different style) and is really good at information gathering, and Kazuo is mostly useless...in a fight that is. He's good at solving puzzles and setting traps.

I'm not 100% sure why I love this show so much but I REALLY WANT MORE OF THIS! It had plenty of action and comedy...but no romance...and strangely I liked it that way!

So as always ART!:
(L to R: Kazuo, Toki, and Nobuto)

It's time once more for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Nice art
  • Awesome story

Cons:
  • Too short (so there's no ending...)

Since there's only 1 con...PROS WIN!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Kei

Anime Blog 27--Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic

wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dante's_Inferno:_An_Animated_Epic

Well internet world...it's been quite some time. I apologize for not keeping up with my blogging...my work schedule has been pretty hectic. So today's "anime" is the Animated Epic of Dante's Inferno.

I watched this not too long ago and I must say that even though it only kinda follows the original I really enjoyed it! This movie was based off of a video game and 6 different animation teams worked on it. So there are 6 different art styles throughout the whole thing; some are similar and some are so totally different you wonder if you're watching the same thing!

The story follows Dante as he makes his way through hell with his guide Virgil to save his lover Beatrice from Lucifer. Most of the art was awesome while some of it was a bit weird for me :) Oh and did I mention Steve Blum plays Lucifer? Oh yeah. That totally happened :D and Mark Hamil (AKA Luke Skywalker) plays Dante's father.

ART! (which is a bit difficult...b/c there are 6 different ones and they aren't in order...)

(L: Virgil, R: Dante)

(L: Virgil, R: Dante)

(L: Dante, R: Virgil)

(Dante)

(Dante)

(L: Virgil, R: Dante)

So yeah...there's all the art styles...I really like the one that I put second to last...it was my favorite.

Pros:
  • Most of the art was awesome!
  • Steve Blum & Mark Hamil
  • Based on an awesome story!
Cons:
  • Some of the art...
  • Story is really different so...it could be hard to follow
  • Because it was done by so many different people some of the early events happen differently at the end...not a fan of that. Also with the art change it can be hard to figure out who people are...
So the pros and cons are somewhat even...I say if you like the game, watch it. If you really want something that follows the book, don't.  :D

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 26-Bad Teacher's Equation

more info: AnimeNewsNetwork Page

Warning! Considered Yaoi!

Alright so today's anime is Bad Teacher's Equation which is a 2 episode Yaoi OVA.

The story follows Atsuchi as he transfers to a degenerate high school to be with his first love, Ma-chan, who teaches as a health teacher there. Lo and behold when Atsuchi arrives and meets the health teacher...he's not at all like he used to be! Also he meets an old friend, Kouji,  who had promised to marry him one day...he's pretty funny! So let me spoil it slightly...Ma-chan (Masami)  no longer works at the school...his brother Masayomi does.

Now the art is older but I still liked it for the most part...sometimes the shining eye thing was weird but whatever.

ART!

(L to R: Masayomi, Atsuchi, Kouji)
But overall I really enjoyed this one. At first I was confused because Ma-chan didn't know who Atsuchi was but I figured it out right before the show pointed it out! It was really cute and I suggest Shonen-ai fans to watch it...I wouldn't say Yaoi simply because it wasn't graphic...at all...as a matter of fact I don't think there was kissing really...hmm...
OH and did I mention Kazuhiko Inoue (the seiyu for Kakashi Hatake in Naruto) plays Masayomi!? I LOVE his voice!

Pros:
  • Yaoi (?) of course!
  • Kazuhiko Inoue!!!
  • Cute story
  • Decent art
Cons:
  • Only 2 episodes
  • If Kazuhiko Inoue is in it there can be NO MORE cons!
Well that's it for this one! Thanks for reading and until next time!

Anime Blog 25-Deadman Wonderland

wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadman_Wonderland

Hello again internet world! I have returned once more to blog about more anime. Today's anime is Deadman Wonderland, a 12 episode Shonen with an OVA (which is just one characters background).

So I watched Deadman Wonderland (henceforth referred to as DW) on Cartoon Network. I found that I really enjoyed DW if only for the awesomely violent backdrop that the story takes place on. The show was a bit confusing at first, but it's that "I'm confused but so is the main character, let's figure this out together" kind of confused. Also on a side note I love that Colleen Clinkenbeard plays Warden Makina...HUGE BOOBS! All I gotta say about that. But anyways I do like the art and Senji was my favorite character for some reason!

ART!

(L to R: Tamaki, You, Makina, Ganta, Shiro)

So it's time again for Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Colleen Clikenbeard
  • Awesome Storyline
  • Senji

            • I mean look at that face! Who can't love that!?
Cons:
  • Too short, the end was abrupt and confusing
But honestly that's the only con! Hope y'all enjoy it!

Thanks for reading, Till next time

Anime Blog 24-Dazzle

wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dazzle_(manga)

Hello Internet World! Today's anime is Dazzle, AKA: Hatenkou Yuugi.

Dazzle follows a 14 year old girl named Rahzel and two guys named Alzeid and Baroqueheat. Now I will admit that the story can be a bit hard to follow because it's only 10 episodes and doesn't get very far but it is sad but in a cute way...if that makes sense. But yeah, I really enjoyed this one but I do wish that it had been a bit longer. Oh and it has REALLY pretty art!

ART!

(Left to Right: Baroqueheat, Rahzel, and Alzeid)
Time once again for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Pretty art
  • Sad but Cute storyline

Cons:
  • A bit too short
  • Story can be hard to follow because too much was left out
Voila! The pros and cons are even...you should still watch it though! I mean it's a Josei so it's technically made for older women but whatever!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 23-Dash!

Hello internet! Sorry it's been so long, my laptop backlight broke and so I've been having to use the TV out in the living room as a screen! But anyways!!!

More info: MyAnimeList.net Page

Warning! This Animanga (moving manga panels with voice over) is considered Yaoi! (boyxboy)

Ok so normally moving manga panels aren't my favorite...but I thought this was so cute! The story is about 2 guys in their high school Judo club. I liked that the whole story was super-romantic but that it started out with reverance and later becomes a physical relationship. The art was surprisingly good and the story wasn't confusing at all, even though it was only 1 episode!

ART!

(Black Hair: Saitou, Brown Hair: Akimoto)

Time again for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Not confusing at all (amazing for a 1 episode anime)
  • Good art
  • Adorable story
Cons:
  • That it was an animanga and not an anime...it would've been better as an anime...
Well that's all Folks!
Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 22-D.N.Angel

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.N.Angel

I borrowed the D.N.Angel complete series from a friend of mine and watched it while I was on vacation. I really enjoyed the storyline of a alternate personality following a family line throughout the ages. However having a awesome thief named Dark and then making the bad guy named Krad...is pretty pitiful for a name. But yeah I really like the art and the story was great!

ART!

(L to R: Risa, Riku, Daisuke, Dark)
time again for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Really pretty art!
  • Awesome storyline
  • Adorable little side character!
Cons:
  • Really pitiful bad guy name
That's that! Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 21-Countdown to Delight

More info: AnimeNewsNetwork Page

WARNING! This is a Hentai! (AKA: Anime Porn)

So basically what I have to say about this one is simple... "Kid…Your whole life sucks. Your sister's girlfriend likes you, your best friend likes you and the one normal chick isn't normal. Funny though." And that is seriously my thoughts on the whole thing. The art was ok but wasn't the best (or worst).  It was also only 1 episode so confusing is a good description.

ART!

(Bottom Left: Yuji, Back Left: Emi, Middle: Eika, Back: Megumi, Bottom Right: Motoki)

Time for pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Funny story
  • Not bad art
Cons:
  • Confusing
Well I wasn't sure where to put the fact that it's hentai...not sure if that's a pro or a con. Same thing with it being uncensored...but whatever!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 20-Close the Last Door

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close_the_last_door

WARNING! This is considered Yaoi (boyXboy)

I must say that I feel really bad for the main character...his luck sucks. But I'm so happy that he found himself someone in the end. This show is similar to Ikoku Irokoi Romantan in the way that the main character meets his guy at a wedding...(well in IIR it was on a ship after the wedding but...whatever). The art for me was kinda strange...not sure how I feel about it...not my fave but not the worst. The story was interesting at least but since it's only 1 episode long it doesn't explain much....

ART!

(L: Nagai, R: Honda)
now time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Yaoi (always a pro)
  • Good ending
  • Decent art...?
Cons:
  • A bit confusing
  • Weird art...?
Well that's it for this time! Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 19-Chobits

Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chobits

I LOVE Chobits! It's one of the few anime I actually own. I bought it at a used movie store for $15! The complete collection! Total steal! Anyways...I love this so much. Chii is just so cute and Hideki is just hilarious! I originally didn't like the art too much but after a few episodes I grew to like it. I love that Hideki is a just a country bumpkin who comes to the city and wants a persacom but can't afford one...voila! finds one in the trash...and drops her memory chip...Oh...and I love that Dave Wittenburg plays the peep-show guy and Crispin Freeman plays Hideki! Oh and one more thing...so Chii is a persacom...a computer...guess where her "on" switch is? xD

ART!

(Back row: L to R: Dita, Yuzuki, Kotoko, and Sumomo. Front Row: L: Freya, R: Elda (Chii) )

So time for pros and cons once more!

Pros:
  • Cool story
  • Adorable characters!
  • Beautiful clothes
  • ECCHI! (always a pro for me!)
Cons:
  • Story can be really confusing at times...but it all makes sense in the end
So thanks for reading!

Anime Blog 18-Candy Boy

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_Boy

WARNING! This is considered Yuri (AKA: girlXgirl)

I must say I don't really understand the title but whatever! So I decided that because the only demographic I hadn't watched yet was Yuri, to watch one...I picked one that was short (8 eps) and had really pretty art...of course it would also be the twinsest one...
Now of course in the anime itself you get the emotional relationship between the twins and not the physical but I promise I don't make all this random stuff up.
But the show was cute anyway and there was a little love triangle with a kohai (younger student) and overall I enjoyed it but don't have much to say about it.

ART!

(L to R: Yukino, Sakuya, and Kanade)
So time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Emotional not physical love (I'm all for it but I draw the line at kissing typically)
  • Beautiful art!
  • Cute story
Cons:
  • If you want hard-Yuri...not for you
  • No real plot...story but no plot
But yeah so I really enjoyed it and lots of people on my forum seem to click on it so I guess there's something right?

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 17-Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokusatsu_Tenshi_Dokuro-chan

So, a friend of mine mentioned this show to me by saying "yeah...so I saw this pervy show I think you'll like. There was this angel with a giant spikey club who kills the main guy for being a perv and then brings him back to life...over and over again." So I watched it....GREAT IDEA!

It was seriously adorable in a total gore-fest kinda way! And NEVER take the halos off...the angels get explosive diarrhea...it's hilarious! I also liked the art it was super-cute!

I love how the premise of the show is that 20 years in the future, the main guy creates something that makes girls stop aging at 12 and gives them immortality...God becomes angry and sends angels to the past to kill him. WONDERFUL!

ART!

(Dokuro-Chan)

The only annoying thing is that in season 2 they change her hair color from purple to blue...it's weird...
Time again for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Super-cute art
  • Kick-a** main female
  • Hilarous premise
  • Ecchi (AKA: Perverted...Always a plus in my book)
  • Adorable!
  • Full of Gore in a good way...ish
Cons:
  • The changing of the hair color in season 2...big con for me
  • Sometimes the gore can be a bit much
AND because I love the opening...

It's just soooooo cute! (and wrong...wrong on soooo many levels)
But those are the only cons. I suggest anyone who likes comedy and/or ecchi...WATCH THIS!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 16-Boku wa Konomama Kaeranai

More Info: Wiki Page

WARNING! This is considered Yaoi (boyXboy)

So there was only 1 episode and it was about a pair of friends and one of the friend's girlfriends. HUGE love triangle! I don't really have much to say about this one because I watched it so long ago and it didn't stick out in my mind very well. I just remember the crazy love triangle and that it just kinda threw you into a story...the ending was decent but I didn't really like the art too much.

ART!

(Back: Ritsuro, Front: Ken)

Well this pic doesn't make the art look as bad...but believe me these people are out of proportion.
pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Yaoi (always :D )
Cons:
  • Not the best art
  • Easy to figure out storyline...
I actually never plan to watch this again so yeah...

Thanks for reading!

Anime Blog 15-Boku no Pico

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boku_no_pico

WARNING! This is a highly explicit Yaoi (boyXboy) even though it's censored so it's borderline Hentai (anime porn). Now that that's out of the way:

So what had happened was...I was looking for a yaoi to watch and came across this...didn't know it was gonna be so graphic and about 3 like 10 year old boys...that was disturbing. I really can't say too much about this one because once you see it...you can't unsee it. The art was nice though and everything was censored (pointlessly...you could still see everything) but yeah...

ART!

(L to R: Coco, Chico, Pico)

Do not be fooled by the clothing...those are ALL boys.

pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Yaoi (always a pro)
  • Really nice art
Cons:
  • About 3 boys around 12 having sex with each other...disturbing
  • No plot that doesn't involve sex
  • Did I mention disturbing?
Yeah so unless you're a die-hard Yaoi fan...don't watch it...just save yourself the brain and eye bleach and leave it alone :D

Thanks for reading!

Anime Blog 14-Blood +

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_%2B

Ok so I LOVE this show. It was one of the first animes I ever completed. My friend Rachel told me about it in gym class and so I started watching it on episode 7. After that episode, I was hooked, I watched 1-6 online to catch myself up and just fell in love.
I love the storyline with a pair of twins whose blood can kill each other. I love that Saya isn't just the Saya you follow but has a completely separate personality that she forgot. I love (Haji) that Haji has been with her almost from the start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! I just love this anime.
The art is really nice and I like how the story goes, except for the sad parts of course, but even with the sad parts I love it. I wish they would make another season because MAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! (No spoilerz this time Kei-chan...no).
Now I will warn you all...normally when I watch an anime; I watch it all. I watch the show, the movies, the OVAs, the live action dramas, the live action movies...EVERYTHING! (excepting musicals...I don't touch those) but for Blood +...Blood the Last Vampire (both the anime movie and the live action) don't exist...they just don't...**except for recently I watched the live action movie...it wasn't tooooooo bad....but yeah...**
**And then I watched the Blood the Last Vampire anime movie just because it was the only part I hadn't seen...OMG THE ART IS HORRIBLE! but anyways...no me gusta**

Anywayz ART!

(figured I'd go with the one with the names labeled)

But yeah...I also love that Crispin Freeman plays Haji, Dave Wittenburg plays Solomon, and Quinton Flynn plays Karl...I have a bit of a crush on those guys...

But time again for pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Vampires
  • Hot guys
  • Great Storyline
  • Kick A** female lead
  • Totally evil female villan
  • NOT BLOOD THE LAST VAMPIRE (which doesn't exist mind you)
Cons:
What cons? I suppose that there isn't a second season is a con...maybe...

Also Blood + has one of my fave anime ops!

Thanks again for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 13-Black Cat

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Cat_(manga)

Just wanna point out Black Cat being number 13 is pretty ironic :D

I loved Black Cat. I thought it was hilarious that the main character's name was Train Heartnet...it makes me laugh. I also loved Saya's character and (*SPOILER!*) I was super sad when she died...I almost cried. I loved the song she sang though...it still gets stuck in my head (Link below). I also have a little crush on Sven...he makes me think of Kisuke Urahara from Bleach (who I have a huge crush on!). I love almost the entire cast in this anime actually...and just to throw out there; Charden is hot without the top hat and glasses! And I love that Kyoko has such a huge crush on Train...it really is adorable!

Konoyo no Uta:

I also really like the art and the storyline with an organization of assasins! All sorts of crazy people in this anime!!!

ART!

(From Left to Right: Train, Sven, Eve, and Rinslet)

Pros and cons!

Pros:

  • Pretty art
  • Hot guys
  • Evil organization of Assassins!
  • Awesome storyline
Cons:

  • The only acceptable con ever: ANNOYING main bad guy!
Well there you have it! I hope everyone watches it!

Thanks for reading!

Anime Blog 12-Be-boy Kidnapp'n Idol

More Info: AnimeNewsNetwork Page

Ok so I'm not going to have much to say about this one. WARNING! This is considered shonen-ai (put simply boyXboy).

Alright so it was only one episode about an idol and his best friend (more implied) getting kidnapped and the best friend saving the day. Obviously...super confusing because WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!? Who knows...and WHY! was the one dude SOOOOOOOOOOO white!? He was like paper white...anywayz so the art was ok, def. not the worst I've ever seen :)

ART!

(L: Akihiko, R: Kazuya)
So time for pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Decent art
  • Shonen-ai (always a pro)
  • Subject was interesting enough
Cons:

  • Confusing as all get out, 1 episode's just not enough to explain it all
That's really the only con but it is a major one.

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 11-Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

So yeah I'm going to put them both in the same post because one is a sequel of the other :D

Alright so I'll start with Avatar: The Last Airbender:

Extra Info: Wiki Page

I love this show so much! Let me just point out how awesome it is: my daddy isn't really into anime or into any good cartoons (excepting things like Family Guy, The Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, the list goes on) and he LOVES this show. He finds it fascinating and was addicted from the first episode he saw...which I think was the one with the fortune teller lady...but I could be wrong :D

I love the idea of benders of different nations, I love the idea that the fire nation is taking over the world and that one 12 year old boy is going to save the world! OH and I love Zuko...but only after he grows hair...before that he creeped me out. I really like the art, I love the story, I even loved the little chibi OVAs! However...I did not like the live action movie. I loved the effects, I could get over the actors, they weren't bad...but the mispronunciation really turned me off. And I would've liked it if instead of doing the motions then the element following, they'd stuck to the show and had the element moving with the motions. But whatever.

ART!

(From L to R: Sokka, Aang (with Momo), Katara, with Appa in the back)
Time again for pros and cons!

Pros:

  • Awesome story
  • Great cast
  • Zuko (teehee!)
  • Good art
  • Even my Daddy likes it!
Cons:

  • There are cons to this show?????
So that's it for the original, lets move on to Legend of Korra

More Info: Wiki Page

So I'm still not sure how I feel about Legend of Korra. I miss the old cast of characters and I'm sad that everyone, except Katara (who looks exactly like her gran-gran lemme point out), is dead. And you don't even get to find out how they died! Oh and that whole thing about "what happened to Zuko's mom?" "oh well that's an interesting story, what happened was..." [Enter Interruption Here] AAARRRGGGHHH!!! I wanna know so bad!

I like Korra...ish...sometimes she gets on my nerves. I like Mako for the most part...and Bolin's just funny but I must say I don't really like Asami  and sadly Zuko's grandson isn't as hot as I'd hoped he'd be :( Even if he is played by Dante Basco...

I don't know...maybe's its just me but I feel like all the events that happened in the original suddenly seem so wasted when you get to Korra...because someone else is trying to take over the world!

So...LOK finally finished...I'm very happy about Varek and Zhu Li, very happy. And the whole ending wasn't really bad. And yes, I know that Korra and Asami are really good friends but that whole ending scene kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Just saying. But anyways, I'm glad it's over because the whole Kuvira thing was getting way out of hand.

But at least we also get to meet Zuko (who is extremely old!) and Toph (who is also extremely old & crotchety). And watch fight scenes that involve them. (just to spoil it for you, Toph is stronger unlike poor Zuko who has kinda lost his touch a bit...only a bit though)

but anyways ART!

(L to R: Asami, Bolin (with Pako on his shoulder), Korra, Mako, Tenzin)
Time for pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Set in the same Avatar world
  • Interesting that Korra knew 3 out of 4 as a child
  • Interesting cast
  • Still good art
  • Varek & Zhu Li :D
Cons:

  • Pretty much everyone's dead
  • [There's no Zuko--ok so there was in season 3. So I'll remove this one ]
  • I call BS on Season 2...
  • ...and seasons 3 & 4...
  • No real closure on questions STILL unanswered

Anime Blog 10-Armitage III

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armitage_III

Ok so the first time I ever saw Armitage was the compilation movie. My older brother owned it and let me watch it with him. I'm not typically into mecha stuff but I LOVE Armitage! The only thing I hate about the series is the sequal movie...they made her sooooooo ugly! and she wasn't as bada** as before :(

But anyways so the story is facinating (at least to me). There are new androids that are, for all intents and purposes, real humans. And you can't even tell them apart from humans. There's this crazy guy going around killing them...and his crazy clones...

The art style is older but I still like it, even the sequal movie's art was good...except for Armitage herself, everyone else looked fine.

ART!

(Armitage)
She's a cop...and THAT's what she wears :)

So time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Decent art
  • Great storyline
  • Awesome, bada** female lead character
  • Keifer Sutherland plays the male lead!
  • Has one of my all time favorite anime openings (see below after cons)
Cons:

  • The only con is the second (the sequal) movie's art...I loved everything else!
Opening (if I really love the opening, I will post them here after the pros and cons section)

So that's all for tonight!
Thanks for reading!
Until Next time,

Anime Blog 9-Araiso Private High School Student Council Executive Committee

If that name wasn't long enough for you! Just as a WARNING! This is considered Shonen-ai (not sure why) but for those who haven't read my previous posts this means boyXboy (put simply)

Extra Info: Wiki Page

Alright so I liked the idea of this anime, the Student Council chases down bad guys! But even though the manga that it's based on was shonen-ai...there was (I believe) one kiss scene in the whole thing...it was only 2 episodes but hey...
The show was hilarious but I must say...it wasn't my favorite art...But ultimately I did enjoy the show :D

ART!

(L: Kubota, R: Tokito)
Alright time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Hilarous
  • Interesting Idea for a storyline
  • Shonen-ai--ish (always a pro...although its a hard choice here)
Cons:
  • Not my favorite art
  • Wannabe Shonen-ai
  • HIGHLY Confusing because it was only 2 eps and just throws you into the storyline
Well pros and cons tied again...but this one was a close call...because it's a wanna be shonen-ai...oh well. If you're interested in the storyline...watch it...if not...don't!

Thanks for Reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 8-Antique Bakery

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antique_bakery

WARNING! Shonen-ai (which put simply is boyXboy for those who haven't read any of my other posts)

I loved Antique Bakery. The idea of using a cake shop to discover the man who kidnapped you as a child is ingenious! Plus I loved the patissier who was so gay that everywhere he worked he ended up either quitting or getting fired because the boss fell in love with him :)

I actually watched this at my grandmother's kitchen table and she was always like "are you watching that cake show again?" I always went to bed hungry and kept telling her about all the cakes! The ending (I promise not to spoil it) was bittersweet but I still loved it. I also watched both the Japanese Drama and the Korean movie, I enjoyed both in their own ways. The Japanese drama for the storyline and the Korean movie for the shonen-ai!

ART!

(L to R: Ono, Tachibana, Chikage, and Kanda)
The art isn't bad so I like it :D

Pros:
  • Shonen-ai (always a pro)
  • ABOUT CAKE!
  • Decent art
  • Awesome storyline
Cons:
  • Bittersweet ending...
That's like the only con...YAY!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 7-Another Lady Innocent

Extra Info: Wiki Page

I'm going to warn you now...this is a Hentai anime (simply put...anime porn). You have been warned!

Ok so to start out...I read the description of this somewhere and the story line sounded wonderful. It was about a girl comming home from boarding school to see her brother and friend/maid. There was a plot by her neighbor to make her his wife and that was where the conflict was arising from. This sounds like typical historical romance to me and I LOVE historical romance. Plus I saw a picture of the main character, Faye, and the art is GORGEOUS! So I discovered the show was only 1 episode long...so I watched it...NOT WHAT I EXPECTED AT ALL!!!!!!!!! Lo and behold it was Hentai...oh well.
Plus the 1 episode doesn't even really touch on the whole, "neighbor making her his wife" thing...just on the relationship between Faye's "brother" John and her maid Sophia, the relationship between all three of them (yes that means EXACTLY what you think it means) and the secret relationshp between Faye and Sophia themselves...basically...lots and lots of sex.

BUT ART!

(Would you believe this was like the only non-pervy picture I could find of Faye???)

(I could easily find one of John)

(And of Sophia)

But anyways the art is what drew me in...it's just so pretty!

Time for Pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Beautiful Art
  • Good storyline (although it wasn't explored)
Cons:
  • Only 1 episode cannot possibly explain much
  • ...Hentai...
So the pros and cons are equal again...simply because every other con I could think of was covered by hentai...so my advice...don't watch unless you like hentai.

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 6-Angel's Feather

Extra Info: Wiki Page

Ok so WARNING! This anime is considered (by manga demographic) as Yaoi (and just in case you didn't read my previous posts, put simply this means boyXboy).

Well Angel's Feather has really pretty art and had a good preface with the idea that there's an ancient race of people who had wings and they still exist today and the main guy finds out he has a long lost twin brother and they are both members of this race. However the twin's lover is a member of the evil ancient race...confusion.

ART!

(Top: L to R: Christopher, Shion, Kai, Anri. Bottom L to R: Shou, Kyouhei, Yuuto, Sena)
Oh did I mention the bishie thing again? So yeah...I'm not totally sure why the anime was considered yaoi...it should have been shonen-ai at the very most. (to explain the difference...yaoi is more explicit; so sex and sexual situations, shonen-ai is more just kissing and the like).

So because I can't really say any more about it, pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Yaoi (a pro as always)
  • Totally bishonen cast
  • Interesting storyline
Cons:
  •  SO CONFUSING!
  • Only 2 OVAs couldn't possibly explain the complex storyline...and they didn't
  • Random creepy situations that I cannot possibly explain even to myself...they were that weird
So for once the pros and cons are equal...hmmm...well if you're a shonen-ai fan I suggest you watch it...if not there isn't much more to it...actually theres not even much shonen-ai in it either...if you want to watch something short with hot guys (who are all pretty much in love with one of the other hot guys in the show) then have at and enjoy! Especially if you don't want to understand what you just watched.

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 5-Alice in the Country of Hearts

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_in_the_Country_of_Hearts

So Alice in the Country of Hearts is only an anime movie but I still count it :D
I read the manga right before I watched the movie and I must say I loved it...however even for someone who read the manga...the movie is ridiculously confusing. For almost the entire film the only thing I really knew was who the characters were. But the art was gorgeous and parts of the movie made sense...

ART!

(From bottom left around to bottom right: Boris, Mary, Ace, Julius, Nightmare, Vivaldi, Alice (Behind Alice is Peter), Blood, Elliot, Tweedledum, and Tweedledee.)

That right there is the reason I still loved it! BISHIES!!!!!!!
So obviously its a parody of Alice in Wonderland but in this version it's more of a war between an amusment park (including the cheshire cat), the mafia (the mad hatter, the march hare, and tweedle dee/tweedle dum), and the castle of hearts (the queen of hearts, the white rabbit, and the jack of hearts). There's a clocktower between the 3 areas and Alice has dreams where she is visited by "nightmare" now also in this world is the land of clover and the movie has pieces of it with the door mouse and the joker card...really confusing b/c it's from the sequal series Alice in the Country of Clover (which I haven't read yet!). But anyways all the people with a real purpose (those who are from the Lewis Carrol story basically) have faces while everyone else does not. No one has a heart, they all have clocks for hearts and the man in the clocktower, Julian, repairs the clocks to basically create new people. The confusion goes on :D

So Pros and Cons

Pros:

  •  Full cast of Bishonen guys (and 3 beautiful girls)
  • Based on a wonderful manga
  • Gorgeous art
  • Based on Alice in Wonderland!
Cons:
  • REALLY confusing!
  • Only a movie not a show that could have explained more
Actually the really confusing is the only big con in my book. If you've read the manga I suggest you watch it if only because they have voices!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

~Kei23

**Shipping addition: I ship AliceXEVERYONE just FYI, I love all the couples in this show!**

Anime Blog 4-Air

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_(manga)#Manga

So I watched Air dubbed, with Vic Mignogna playing Yukito. This anime was really cute. When I was in high school I made a music video to the song Romeo and Juliet by Toybox (who apparently isn't the actual singers...) and it turns out I used a picture of Yukito and another of Misuzu later on in the video...who knew!?
I must admit the storyline was confusing as all get out! But it kinda makes sense in the very end. The art was beautiful and I actually watched it because a friend of mine on an old forum said that I should.

Pretty art!

(L: Misuru, R: Yukito)
So anywayz time for Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • Beautiful art
  • Vic Mignogna
  • Adorable Characters
  • Cute, almost non-romantic relationship between main characters (also a con)
Cons:

  • Cute, almost non-romantic relationshp between main characters (also a pro)
  • CONFUSING storyline...till the end...acutally even then...huh...
Those are the only cons I can think of so pros win again!
Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 3-Ai no Kusabi

Here I am at blog number 3!
I'm going to warn everyone that Ai no Kusabi is a Yaoi (and just in case you didn't read my last post, that means boyXboy...put simply)

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ai_no_Kusabi

Alright so there are actually 2 versions of Ai no Kusabi, the original 1994 version and the 2012 remake (that as of right now has been cancelled due to lack of funding).

So to start with the original:
At first I was a little confused but it was explained fairly quickly...The storyline was fabulous and yet so very very sad at the end. The art wasn't bad either and I found the idea that blondes were the highest in society while brunettes were on the bottom very interesting...along with the fact that if you reproduce the natural way (AKA: have sex) it is considered a trait of the lowest class of people...interesting...

The remake:
The remake only got to episode 4 (it was supposed to be 13 episodes) and was taking its time with the story and really making it make sense. They updated the art and my God was it beautiful! I was really enjoying the remake when it got cancelled :(

I like this comparison between the '94 art (Top) and the 2012 art (Bottom):

(From L to R: Iason and Riki)
So time again for Pros and Cons!

Pros:
  • Yaoi (which as I said before is always a pro)
  • Facinating futuristic world setting
  • Beautiful remake art (although the original wasn't bad)
  • Original was able to make the story make sense with only 2 episodes
  • Was good enough to even attempt a 2012 remake
Cons:
  • Remake was cancelled
  • Futuristic world rules can be confusing
  • Draws a fine line between what is consensual and what is not
I honestly cannot think of any more so once again the pros outweigh the cons!
Thanks for Reading!
Until Next Time,

~Kei

Anime Blog 2-After School in the Teacher's Lounge

After School in the Teacher's Lounge:

Welcome back to my blog everyone! So as a quick warning, the anime I'll be blogging about today is considered a yaoi (for those who don't know...boyXboy...to put it simply). I get all my demographics off of what the manga is considered even if the anime is toned down...thought I should explain that.

More info: AnimeNewsNetwork Page

Alright so to talk about After School in the Teacher's Lounge. I must say when I first heard the title, I actually thought things were gonna be going on in the teacher's lounge...no. It's simply about 2 teachers and their secret relationship. Now for the most part...I was confused during the whole story. It could be that 2 episodes just couldn't do the show justice...or that it wasn't explained properly....who knows!?

I feel I should point out that since this anime was made in 1994 (according to AnimeNewsNetwork) the art isn't normally what I'd watch but it makes me think of Sailor Moon in a way...LOL

(From L to R: Kazama and Kawase)

So now for the pros and cons of this anime!

Pros:
  • Interesting storyline (from what I could understand)
  • Not bad art
  • ...It's yaoi...that's always a pro
  • Cute ending (Oh...btw endings are also very important for me)
Cons:
  • Only 2 episodes so not much was explained
  • It was hard to understand because there just wasn't enough time to explore the storyline well

HaHa! The pros once again outweigh the cons (at least for me). It was enjoyable even if I didn't understand everything!

Thanks for reading!
Until Next Time,

~Kei

Anime Blogs 1-intro + 07 Ghost

Hello Everyone on the internet! My name is Kei and this is my very first blogger blog (Tee Hee!)
So I've decided to blog about animes that I've seen...all of them. Now not all at once of course, and obviously the list is going to continue getting longer and longer but Hey! It'll gimme something to talk about.
So here we go and thanks for reading!

For more info: Wiki Page
07 Ghost

The first anime I'm going to blog about is 07 Ghost.

So to actually start my blog:

I'M IN LOVE WITH FRAU!
Well what more can I say right? I mean the following picture (found by a google image search, all rights to the creator, not me) completely sums up this anime:

(Top: Left to Right: Labrador, Castor, Frau. Bottom: L to R: Teito (Mikage on his knee), and Hakuren)

I mean come on! But I must say that I really liked the idea of the 7 ghosts but I really wish the anime had been longer and had at least led to some kind of closure....oh...and I wish that it had turned into a shonen-ai/yaoi between Frau and Teito...but that's beside the point :D
I really loved the show though and the art was beautiful (I've got a thing with anime art...I don't like to watch things with art that I don't consider pretty...I know that's shallow and petty but if I'm gonna watch it, I gotta like what I'm looking at!)
I really love the storyline, how it's based on a fictional myth of a perfect creation murdering the chief of heaven's daughter and then whose soul was broken into 7 pieces creating the 7 ghosts who guard the earth from his return...it's much more complicated than that but it's so facinating!

I'm really not sure where this blog is going (or is going to go from now on) but I suppose it's going to be me rambling on and on about different shows and what I liked about them and what I didn't...that seems to make sense to me at least. So:

Pros:
  • All bishonen cast (well except for the few females)
  • Great mythical backstory
  • Frau
  • Hint of Shonen-ai
  • Did I mention ALL bishonen cast? (see bullet 1)
  • Beautiful art
Cons:
  • Such a complicated storyline that 25 episodes couldn't possibly explain it all
  • Only 25 episodes, so theres just kinda an abrupt end
  • Not actually shonen-ai at all
So the pros outweigh the cons!
I really enjoyed this anime (as I've said like a million times in this blog already) and I hope those of you who read this, watch it and enjoy it too!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

~Kei
