Anime Blog 117: Nyan Koi!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyan_Koi!

Nyan Koi! is a 12 episode shonen anime.

The story follows Junpei Kousaka who accidentally breaks a cat shine statue. The statue curses him and unless he fulfills the requests of 100 cats he will become one. The thing is...Junpei is allergic to cats. So if he turns into one...he'll die. The show follows him as he tries to fulfill the cats wishes while also having the typical slice-of-life genre issues of which girl to pick: The cute girl who loves cats but only owns dogs (Mizuno), the childhood friend with huge boobs (Sumiyoshi), the flat-chested senpai who's from a yakuza family (Nagi-senpai), or the twins (Kotone & Akari).

The show was really cute and recommended to me by a friend since I LOVE cats :D
I love the slice-of-life genre and I love cats so this show worked in my favor :D
It was really cute and since it was only 12 episodes it was an easy watch.

So...art!

L-R: Mizuno, Akari, Kotone, Junpei, Sumiyoshi, & Nagi-senpai

Pros and Cons:
Pros:

  • Slice-of-Life
  • CATS!
  • Talking cats
  • Cute story idea
Cons:
  • Sort of ambiguous ending...I wanna know who he ends up with dammit!
Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 116: Amnesia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amnesia_(visual_novel)

Amnesia is a 12 episode shojo anime.

The story follows an unnamed heroine who wakes up and can't remember anything before August 1. A fairy named Orion appears before her and explains that he ran into her and now he is fused with her consciousness. People appear around her and she pretends like nothing is wrong. She figures out that she, Shin, and Toma are childhood friends. That her co-worker Ikki has a strange ability to grant girl's wishes and thus he has a crazy fan club. And she starts having flashbacks such as going to a festival with her other co-worker Kento, that no one else remembers. She ends up falling off a cliff by accident and when she wakes up, people remember the accident but it happened differently...and now she has apparently been dating Shin for quite some time...and Orion is gone.
There's also this green haired guy (who you later learn is named Ukyou) who it isn't clear if he's a good guy or a bad guy.
Accidents keep happening to the heroine and each time she wakes up and the world has changed a bit. Usually (since this is based on a visual novel game) she's dating a different character.

I just finished watching this today which is why I can say so much about it...but seriously. This show was not about anything that I thought it was going to be about. I was super-confused most of the time and had to read the wiki-page at one point because I thought I missed something. I'm not sure if I'd watch it again but it wasn't bad and actually was a very interesting idea for a show.

Also...suprisingly...I actually ship Heroine X Ukyou...

art!

Top L-R: Shin, Heroine, Toma
Bottom L-R: Ukyou, Kento, Ikki

pros and cons:
Pros:

  • Good characters
  • Interesting idea for a story
  • Pretty art
  • in this case. Short.
Cons:
  • Confusing
  • Ambiguous ending
Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 115: Pandora Hearts

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandora_Hearts

Pandora Hearts is a 25 episode shonen anime with 9 OVA episodes.

The story follows Oz Vessalius who upon turning 15 has a coming-of-age ceremony. At this ceremony, for no reason, he is thrown into the prison known as the Abyss. While there he makes a contract with a "chain" named Alice who is also known as the Bloodstained Black Rabbit. When they escape, everything looks different...and it's because it's been 10 years in the real world. There is an organization named Pandora that Oz ends up working with to discover the "sin" he was thrown into the Abyss for.

The show is really confusing and complex but it doesn't touch the complexity of the manga. This is one of those shows that I really wish had gotten a sequel.

Also...even though I do like Oz X Alice...I really ship Oz X Gil

So...art!

Oz, Alice, & Gil

Pandora Hearts also has one of my favorite openings:

so. pros and cons:
Pros:

  • Oz & Gil
  • Gil in general (I totally named a fish I had after him...no lie)
  • Complex story
  • Great cast of characters
  • Did I mention this was based on Alice in Wonderland???
Cons:
  • Need more of this show!
  • Also...confusing :D
Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 114: Ouran High School Host Club

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouran_High_School_Host_Club

Alright. Who doesn't know this one? LOL.

Ouran High School Host Club is a 26 episode shojo with an 11 episode Live Action Drama and a Live Action Movie.

The story follows scholarship student Haruhi who attends Ouran Academy. While trying to find a place to study she stumbles into the 3rd music room which is the meeting for the Ouran Host Club. She mistakenly knocks over a vase worth 8,000,000 yen and then ends up joining the host club to pay back that debt. It's a really cute reverse harem as there are 6 male members of the host club and they all basically fall in love with her :D

PS I totally ship Haruhi X Kyouya (let me dream ppl!)

This is actually the first anime I ever watched subbed. I remember having to pause and rewind to actually read the subtitles! (ah...good memories!) but as such, I never watched it dubbed. Now I have seen a few clips and really all I have to say is: "so this is what the cast of FMA brotherhood did afterwards..." LOL

so. ART!

Kyouya (back)
Front L-R: Kaoru, Hikaru, Tamaki, Haruhi, Honey, and Mori

Alright now for the live action drama and it's movie sequel...FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T!
I watched them both and I honestly think the guy who plays Tamaki looks like a monkey...also. The CG...it's just so bad. Have some pictures:

Back: Kyouya, Mori, Honey, Hikaru, Kaoru, Nekozawa
Front: Haruhi & Tamaki

Pros and Cons:
Pros:

  • Cute
  • Funny
  • Kyouya (fave character)
  • OMG ALL THE SHOJO CLICHES! (that was the point)
Cons:
  • I can't tell you...it'll spoil the ending for those who haven't seen it...
  • Honestly...the dub...I just can't do it...
  • The live action 100%
It's super cute and if you haven't already seen it...I'm surprised :D

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 113: Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otome_wa_Boku_ni_Koishiteru

Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru (henceforth: Otoboku) is a 12 episode shonen anime with an OVA and an OVA sequel series.

The show follows Mizuho who's grandfather has died and in the will states that Mizuho will attend the same school his mother did. However...it's an all-girls school. So. Mizuho dresses as a girl and everyone thinks he's a girl. Since this is based on a Visual Novel game...there are a number of girls that Mizuho can be romantically involved with.

The show was really cute and I got lots of laughs :D I do feel that they could've done more with the whole "I'm a guy pretending to be a girl" thing but...hey I don't make anime for a living!

The OVA sequel series is called The Two Elders and it's 3 episodes long.

This story follows another boy, Chihaya, who gets transferred to this all-girls school and dresses as a girl. He and another girl, Kaoruko, get voted into the running to be the Elder of the school. Which is basically the elder sister. The girl everyone looks up to, goes to for advice, and aspires to be.

Now I don't own the OVAs but I do own the main series. So. I think it's a show worth watching!

ART!

L-R:Mariya , Mizuho, & Shion

pros and cons:
Pros:

  • Cute and fluffy
  • Funny
  • Nice art
  • Interesting story
Cons:
  • Could've done better with the whole "I'm a boy dressed as a girl" thing.
There you have it!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 112: Otona ni Natte mo

https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=28200

Otona ni Natte Mo is a 2 episode animanga.

Each episode follows a different couple. The first episode follows a mangeka named Saikawa and an editor named Misono. And the second episode follows Atsushi and Kyou whose parents got married making them "siblings" but once they're adults.

Each story is cute on it's own but it really is just manga panels with voice-overs so there isn't too much I can say.

Art?

Misono and Saikawa

Kyou and Atsushi

I can't even really do pros and cons this go round...cause this show wasn't very memorable for me and I can't really get myself to re-watch it... gomenasai :(

Thanks for reading! Until next time!

Anime Blog 111: Okane ga Nai

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Money_(manga)

HERE'S THE YAOI WARNING!

Ok. Okane ga Nai is a 4 episode yaoi anime that also has 4 specials.

The story follows Ayase whose cousin sells him to a man named Kanou. Kanou bought Ayase because 4 years earlier, Ayase actually helped Kanou when he was down on his luck and this made Kanou love him. Ayase wants to pay Kanou back but it's a ridiculous amount of money and Ayase has none...so each time he and Kanou have sex, Kanou pays him 500,000 yen.

The show is actually kind of cute with Ayase being confused about whether he loves Kanou or not...etc. However, every time I think of this show all I think about it that creepy face that Kanou makes with the rapey hands and the fact that the man's bed is bigger than a California King...just saying!

OMG. Don't forget to watch the specials! They're adorable! So much of Ayase being cute and naive and trying to stick up for himself...awww...so cute!

ART!

Kanou and Ayase

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Yaoi...as always
  • Short and sweet
  • Ayase is just too cute
Cons:
  • Rapey hands...so creepy...
  • I'm not sure if it's the size difference or the fact that one of my friends still thinks Ayase looks 8...but there's something there...
Enjoy! It's a cute show!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

~Kei

Anime Blog 110: Nyoron Churuya-san

https://myanimelist.net/anime/5957/Nyoro-n_Churuya-san

Ok Nyoron Churuya-san is a 13 episode ONA spin-off of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I'll make this a link later after my TMOHS blog).

The story follows MOHS character Tsuruya except now she is a chibi character named Churuya who is OBSESSED  with smoked cheese...and I mean that...

So the other characters make Churuya do different things with smoked cheese being her reward.

It's super cute and the episodes are less than 5 minutes long. But honestly...there's not much to it :D

ART:

L-R: Tsuruya, Kyon, Yuki, Mikuru, Izumi, Haruhi, and Churuya in the middle

I'd do pros and cons but really the only thing is that it's a cute spin-off show about smoked cheese. XD

Related:
I'll add links here to the other MOHS spin-offs here later!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 109: A Dark Rabbit has 7 Lives

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Dark_Rabbit_Has_Seven_Lives

A Dark Rabbit has 7 Lives is a 12 episode Shonen anime with 1 OVA.

The story follows Taito Kurogane, a normal high school guy who's trying to deal with his childhood friend Haruka's feelings for him and other normal high school drama. What he doesn't realize is that the school he goes to isn't normal. It's owned by the military and the student council president, Gekkou, can do magic and Andou Mirai, who everyone thinks is just a weird student, is actually Gekkou's demon familiar. Taito ends up saving Mirai from getting hit by a bus and dies...but doesn't...

After he discovers he's immortal he remembers a vampire named Himea who he made a contract with in childhood. Turns out his memories were sealed away by Gekkou's twin brother Hinata! The secret is that if Taito dies 7 times in 15 minutes, he stays dead. But if the deaths are spaced out, he's practically immortal! More shock and awe and tons of drama insue as Gekkou, Mirai, Taito, Himea, and others team up to save the world? (that's never really clear)

I really enjoyed the show. My only issue is that it really needed a second season because absolutely nothing was clarified. It feels like they left off in the middle of the show. OMG Rave Master ending! But otherwise, it was really good...so much drama! And the OVA was friggin adorable! Body switching...you must watch!

BTW I totally ship TaitoXHimea and GekkouXMirai...just FYI!

There's just so much in this show that never gets explained!!! Argh :(

But I digress...ART!

L-R: Himea, Taito, Gekkou, and Mirai

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Interesting Characters
  • Deep plot
  • Pretty art
Cons:
  • Unfinished :(
Well...that's a big con but I'm still glad I watched it!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 108: Now and Then, Here and There

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_and_Then,_Here_and_There

Now and Then, Here and There is a 13 episode shonen(?) anime.

The show follows Shu as he gets taken to an alien world after protecting a strange girl named Lalaru. Lalaru has a special pendant that houses a vast amount of water that she can control. This makes her valuable to the other world because it's a desolate mechanized wasteland with no water. On board the ship of his captors, Shu is forced to become a child soldier along with a number of children kidnapped from villages. He meets a girl named Sara who was kidnapped from America because she looked like Lalaru.

There are a lot of dark elements in this show including war, slavery, and rape. It's a sad story and a number of people die in the show, including children.
I can't remember my reasoning for wanting to watch the show, I just know that I probably won't watch it again. Not because it was bad, it was actually done very well IMO, but it just made me far too sad and bad things happened to the characters I liked. It does have a semi-happy ending though.

So, art.

I felt this was an appropriate picture for this show
Far left Pic: Shu and Lalaru
Middle pic: Shu
Right Center Pic: Sara

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Very detailed storyline
  • Great characters
  • Short
Cons:
  • Violent
  • Sad
So that's it for this time. This is a show I would honestly recommend watching at least once.
Thanks for reading! Until next time!

Anime Blog 107: Natsuyasumi

Myanimelist.net

WARNING! YAOI/HENTAI!!!!! (you've been warned)

Natsuyasumi is a 3 episode yaoi ova series that is graphic in nature.

For those of you who follow my blog...remember the Boku no Pico entry? This show is essentially the same thing just with only 2 boys and only 1 of them looks like a girl.

A boy named Yuu is down by the river and meets Natsuki (who he thinks is a girl). Sexual acts ensue and lo and behold! Natsuki is a boy!!! dun dun duh!!!!!! shocker....

There's the story for you. It may be censored but it's very graphic. So if this is your thing...you'll enjoy it.

I honestly don't have much to say about it...I only watched it because it was on aarinfantasy...and it was a number of years ago. But...

ART!

Natsuki and Yuu

Pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Yaoi...just cause it's always a pro
Cons:
  • Total smut
  • Shota (in this case...I wasn't feeling it)
  • Far too similar to Boku no Pico for my tastes
There you go! Thanks for reading! Until next time!

Anime Blog 106: Aoi Hana

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Blue_Flowers

Aoi Hana is an 11 episode Yuri (by manga demographic) anime.

The story follows Fumi Manjome as she moves back to her childhood hometown, reunites with her childhood friend Akira, creates new friends, and explores the concept of love.

Fumi is in love with her cousin at the beginning of the anime. But her cousin is getting married and this causes her to be depressed. She manages to move on by falling in love with her sempai. The 2 begin to date. Now I don't want to spoil anything but they don't last and something that her sempai (Sugimoto, I think) says to her about remembering her first love helps her to get past her 2 lost loves and realize who she really loves in the end.

The story was really cute. There was only 1 kiss scene and it happened pretty early on but overall I can say that it ended pretty well and left room for a sequel (which we won't get but hey, that's why we're supposed to read the manga!). Also. Huge love triangle...but not between the people you expect!

The art was really nice, I enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of Emma: A Victorian Romance for some reason...

So. Art!

Akira and Fumi

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Cute story
  • Interesting Characters
  • Great development between characters
  • Simple but deep
  • Art :D
Cons:
  • Only 1 kiss scene (I really wish there was 1 more!)
  • Needs that 2nd season
There you have it! If you're looking for a nice, sweet romance but the kind that involves a lot of emotional growth, this is for you! Plus it's short and sweet!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 105: Hakuouki

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haku%C5%8Dki

Hakuouki is a 53 episode anime with a recap OVA and 2 movies.

The anime is based on the Hakuouki series of video games. Seasons 1 and 2 follow Chizuru as she searches for her father. She ends up living with the shinsengumi and discovers their secrets. The biggest being that the shogunate has the shinsengumi testing this drug called the ochimizu. It turns whoever drinks into into a "rasetsu" which is basically a demon, but the big flaw is that the rasetsu suffer from bloodlust which causes them to go berserk. **kinda a spoiler: many members of the shinsengumi become rasetsu** which is a whole section of the plot and Chizuru discovers the truth about herself and the secrets that her "father" has been keeping from her.

There's a cute 6 episode OVA season before season 3 that has Chizuru dressing as a geisha and spying for the shinsengumi...and it fails terribly. :D but it's so cute :D all 6 episodes are telling the same story from different character's POV so you get to see everything that happened that night.

Season 3 is a prequel to the anime. Telling the story of how the shinsengumi became the shinsengumi and why they're called the Wolves of Mibu. It introduces another character who stays with shinsengumi for a while but "leaves" in the end which is why he's not in S1 or S2.

The movies are a retelling of S1 and S2 and they change a number of things, mostly in a good way. They are a more direct sequel to S3 since in movie 2 you actually see Ryunosuke (the character from S3) and the ending is much different than that of the anime.

S4 is a little chibi version of the show if the shinsengumi were able to live normal everyday lives. It's super cute and really funny to see the interactions between the characters!

Overall I really enjoyed this show. It was easy to watch and very interesting to see these versions of the shinsengumi :D

ART:

L-R: Okita, Saito, and Hijikata

So, pros and cons

Pros:
  • Good storyline
  • Great characters
  • Hijikata :D
  • Interesting plot points
  • Good fight scenes
  • Nice art
  • HijikataXChizuru
Cons:
  • Sadface in parts of the show
So that's it folks! Watch this one!

Thanks for reading, until next time!

Anime Blog 104: Betrayal Knows my Name

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Betrayal_Knows_My_Name

Betrayal Knows my Name (or UraBoku) is a 24 episode Shojo anime.

So the story follows Yuki, an orphan, as he discovers that he's actually from a clan of people with very special abilities and that he's been reincarnated to fight Reiga, who is a member of the family who betrayed everyone 1000 years ago. But that's not all. Turns out, in all of Yuki's previous incarnations, he's been a female...until now but Yuki doesn't have any memories of his past lives. This causes a few issues since everyone was used to him being a girl and Luka, his past lover, still vows to protect him.

The story is really good and has very interesting concepts of demons and magic. My personal favorite is this idea of powers being related to God (eg: God's eyes, God's light, God's voice, etc.) and how Yuki's power to heal involves him taking the other person's pain and making it his own. That part really intrigued me.

But for those of you who plan to watch this because you've heard it's a shonen-ai (like I did originally) you're in for a letdown. **SPOILER!! There's not a single kiss scene in the entire show. I know, it made me sad too :(

Now, there are plenty of cute guys to ship together and some serious bromance going on but...that's about it.

Just for funzies: I totally ship YukiXLuka (obviously), HatsumaXShusei, TsukumoXToko, KurotoXSenshiro, & TakashiroXFuyutoki. Pretty much put all the Zweilt guardians together :D

So, art!

Yuki and Luka

Kuroto, Senshirou, Tsukumo, Toko, Shusei, and Hatsuma

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • Interesting story concept
  • Pretty art
  • Lots of shipping!
  • YukiXLuka
Cons:
  • Why no kiss scene!? I just wanted one!!!!!!
Yeah...that's my only complaint. Well! Thanks for reading and until next time,

Anime Blog 103: Best Student Council

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_Student_Council

Best Student Council is a 26 episode shonen anime.

Alright so Rino transfers to Miyagami Private Academy since it was recommended by her penpal Mr. Poppit. This school's student council basically runs the school. and by basically, I mean it does. The Student council president, Kanade, is the one who actually founded the school. Just saying. The student council has an assault squad for all problems (which really just includes anything that makes any trouble to anyone at the school like boys spying on the girls at swim practice or that really rich guy who keeps proposing to Kanade) and a covert squad who spies on EVERYONE! and I really mean that. They have ninjas...real ninjas.

The big secret here regards Kanade's family and some special power that she supposedly has (not gonna spoil it!) but there are so many funny moments in this show and some very interesting twists and turns by the end :D It's a show that I actually really enjoyed :D

I really liked the variety of characters. They all had their little quirks and were really neat. They had all the adorable sterotypes...except a big-chested girl now that I think about it...huh..actually I suppose the glasses girl (Sayuri) was mentioned to have a large chest at one point...but it's not like Rangiku from Bleach...just saying.

The show can be a bit confusing since the big secret isn't revealed until the end and the show wants to keep the watchers in the dark about it the whole time...so things can be very vague...but that's ok. It just makes the big reveal a little more surprising in the end :D

So, art!

B-F (L-R): Cyndi, Sayrui, Rein, Ayumu, Seina, Mayura, Izumi, Kuon, Rino (and Pucchan), Kanade, and Nanaho

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • Interesting concept
  • Lots of cool characters
  • Nice art
Cons:
  • It's a little confusing and scattered sometimes...but oh well :D
I really think it's a show worth watching at least once :D

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 102: Doukyuusei

MyAnimeList.com page

Doukyuusei (classmates) is a shonen-ai anime movie.

The story follows classmates Sajou and Kusakabe as they practice together for their school's choir festival. They spend a lot of time together and become close. It develops into something more and we, the audience, get to see their relationship develop further in the movie.

I thought it was a super-cute story. I'm happy that I watched it. My only problem was the art style. It wasn't necessarily bad but it certainly wasn't my favorite :D

Art:

Blonde: Kusakabe. Brunette with glasses: Sajou

so pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Cute story
  • short, sweet, and to the point

Cons:
  • Art style bugs me...
But that's all. It was a really cute movie and I totally recommend it!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 101: Myself;Yourself

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myself_;_Yourself

For those of you who haven't noticed (and since we're only in the "M"s on my list I'm not surprised if you haven't) I watch a lot of anime based on video games. This is because when I was in high school I decided that I was going to watch anime based on video games and there was a whole list of them; thus tons of video game-based anime on my watched list XD

Myself;Yourself is a 13 episode shonen anime. I'm not going to lie. I watched this anime because the cover of the game has a pretty girl playing a violin...

So the story follows Sana who moves back to his hometown after a number of years to find that some things have stayed the same and some have changed. There's a lot of depressing backstory that just makes me too sad to type it out so read the wiki or watch it to find out!

This is basically one of those games where you play a male character and you have tons of female love interests...thus there are 2 main guys in this anime and like 6 girls. The main story of the anime follows Sana as he remembers his depressing backstory and learns why one of his friends (Nanaka) is no longer how he remembers her. She no longer plays the violin, she's moody, and just not the happy girl he remembers her being. So we learn her depressing backstory. All-in-all I really just remember being sad a lot when I was watching this. But I can tell you that it has a happy ending so in my mind, that totally makes up for all the sadness :D

ART!

Nanaka and Sana

pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Violin playing character
  • Happy ending
  • Good art
  • Short :D
Cons:
  • Such a depressing story...
I love this song BTW:

That's all for now! Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 100: My Bride is a Mermaid

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Bride_Is_a_Mermaid

Wow! I can't believe we've made it all the way to number 100!! Woot! Woot!

This week's blog is about My Bride is a Mermaid. A 26 episode shonen with 2 OVAs.

The story follows Nagasumi (played by Todd Haberkorn) who's pretty much a "normal" guy. He almost drowns but is saved by a mermaid named Sun but apparently there's some mermaid law that says now one of them must die since this human dude has seen this mermaid...solution? LET'S GET MARRIED! Which is where all the fun and drama begins since Sun's dad is the leader of a Mermaid Yakuza...turns out there are a number of those...

It's a really cute show and I really enjoyed it a lot. Especially the episode with the Song of Sleep. I laughed so hard for so long because of that song! :D Also...Masa. That's how awesome that guy is. He doesn't even need an explanation! Oh...also...Lunar's dad freaks me out. No Joke.

So, art!

Nagasumi and Sun

Now time for pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Mermaids
  • Cute show
  • Comedy
  • Pretty art
  • Ah, Yakuza
  • Masa
Cons:
  • Lunar's dad
  • Lunar's dad
  • Lunar's dad
  • Ok...Imma stop now...
So there you have it! Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 99: Kono Danshi, Mahou ga Oshigoto desu

AnimeNewsNetwork Page

Another "Kono Danshi" series!

This one means: This Boy is a Professional Wizard.

The show has 4 7:50 minute episodes that follows Kashima, a wizard, and Toyohi, a freeter, as they meet in a bar. Toyohi confesses but Kashima believes that the only reason anyone likes him/tolerates him/etc is because he can do magic. He believes that without magic, he is worthless. So of course when an issue comes up that Kashima is putting his work aside because of Toyohi and this causes him to use too much magic, his magic is blocked for a time and he feels worthless.

The show was cute and there is 1 kiss scene. I advise it for anyone who has watched the other "Kono Danshi" shows and liked them--it's cute :)

So, art!

Kashima and Toyohi

Pros and cons:
Pros:

  • Kono Danshi series
  • Really intricate backgrounds
  • Cute
  • Short, sweet, and to the point
Cons:
  • The art is still strangely pointy...ah Kono Danshi series

Anime Blog 98: Mushi-shi

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushishi

Mushi-shi is a 46 episode Seinen with 3 OVAs and a live action Japanese film.

Let me start by saying that before I watched the anime for this, I read all 10 volumes of the manga and loved it! I was super-excited for the anime and I wasn't disappointed!

The show is episodic just like the manga, excepting that the anime doesn't even follow the order of the manga (not that it needs to since nothing is really connected much). The story follows Ginko, a mushi-shi who helps people with mushi problems. Mushi are these little living organisms that people normally can't see, they are all around us and are a part of life and nature but sometimes they can cause problems depending on what they are and how humans interact with them. (In my mind I associate them with bacteria--sorta).

Ginko just travels around helping people with their mushi problems. Some of the episodes focus on backstory about what happened to Ginko as a child, how he became a mushi-shi, etc. but they aren't the real focus of the story.

I've watched this show both subbed and dubbed and honestly, even though both are good, I prefer the dub...just because Travis Willingham (Col. Roy Mustang from FMA) plays Ginko...I love that man's voice...It's just perfect.

The OVAs are basically other episodes from the manga that just didn't end up in the main story of the anime. They're good episodes though...actually they're some of the coolest (for me at least).

Now for the live action film. I think it was done very well. It looked good, it followed well, and overall it was a really good adaptation. I was only confused at the end but I'm not going to spoil that for anyone--I'll let you be confused about why they did that too :D

So, art!

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • "follows" the manga very well
  • Travis Willingham
  • Great story
  • Unique plot
  • Episodic
  • Ginko is the best character ever :D (LOL)
Cons:
  • Ha! Yeah right!
So there you have it! Totally worth watching! Awesome show! Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 97: 11 Eyes

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/11eyes:_Tsumi_to_Batsu_to_Aganai_no_Sh%C5%8Djo

11 Eyes is a 12 episode shonen with 1 OVA.

The story follows Kakeru and Yuka, 2 childhood friends who are suddenly dragged into this "Red World" where strange monsters attack them. They find out that other students at their school are also dragged into the fight and that each one of them has a special power they can use in both the Red World and the real world. I'm not going to be able to go into much detail about the rest of the story because it gets quite complex and I don't want to spoil it for anyone who decides to watch this; that's why I always link to Wikipedia or a similar site :D Spoilers at your own risk there :D

This show has been on my list for years and I finally got around to watching it over the past couple of days. I couldn't remember what it was about or why I decided to watch it originally, I just had a picture saved on my computer. The picture made me think it was going to be a school-centered show with fantasy/paranormal aspects...WRONG!

I started watching this a couple days ago and all I could think was "And I wanted to watch this show why???" and by the last couple of episodes I kept yelling at the computer screen "WHAT THE F*** DID I DECIDE TO WATCH!!!!!?????"

It gets really crazy...wow.

And dear Jesus...the panty shots. It wasn't even just panty shots for ecchi purposes (at least to me they didn't feel that way) it was like the camera was just always at a panty shot angle. ALWAYS. Then people are randomly in their underwear for no apparent reason...just because. WOW. So many panty shots...just sayin'

But now that I finished it I can honestly say it wasn't that bad. It was weirder than I expected but it didn't end as badly as I was expecting it to by the later episodes. Also. Episode 13...

Episode 13 (the OVA) puts them in a "Pink World" instead of the "Red World" and everyone's powers suddenly become pervy...I have to say after such a serious show, I enjoyed a good laugh at the OVA :D

Also, Takahisa is played by Showtaro Morikubo, who is the guy who plays Shikamaru Nara in Naruto (I really like his voice!)--Takahisa is the guy who looks kinda like Inuyasha

So, art!

Kukuri, Kusakabe, Yuka, Yukiko, and Shiori
I also really like the opening song and I think it introduces the characters well:

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • Short
  • Good art
  • Decent ending
  • I like Yukiko :D
  • Interesting ideas thrown around about who the good guys are and are we really the bad guys?
Cons:
  • Gets weird...
  • There's a part that really makes you think, OMG it's that girl from School Days
That's about it!
**I totally liked Kakeru and Yuka together...excepting when she went School Days

Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 96: Moonlight Lady

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonlight_Lady

HERE'S THE HENTAI WARNING!!!!!!

Ok, Moonlight Lady is a 5 episode Hentai that focuses on Suzuna who is training to become some kind of priestess in her family. She has an arranged marriage with a guy named Koichi and then a bunch of really weird paranormal stuff happens. I vaguely recall a tentacle scene even though I have no idea how the heck it connected to anything! (I watched this in 2011 so forgive me if this is a short blog).

What drew me to this anime was the art. I saw a really pretty picture (that I will post for the art section) and it made me want to watch it...still not sure if that was a good or bad choice on my part...

I can tell you that although things got weird for a while there (really weird) it ended well and all-in-all I really enjoyed this show. Honestly if I could find all 5 episodes on DVD (in a store probably...I don't wanna go out of my way to find it) I would buy it...I saw a copy once but I think it was just the first episode...hmm...

But. ART!

Suzuna
Suzuna, Koichi, and Tomomi

Suzuna and Koichi

So, pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Does hentai go here?
  • Pretty art
  • Suzuna in her shrine outfit
  • Good ending
  • Decent story...although weird
Cons:
  • Does hentai go here?
  • Weird things happen...weird
  • Kinda confusing for a while there...more explanations needed!
Well that's all folks! Thanks for reading! Until next time,

Anime Blog 95: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miyuki-chan_in_Wonderland

Ah CLAMP. (Here's a Shojo-ai warning!)

Miyuki-chan in Wonderland has 2 OVAs: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland and Miyuki-chan in Mirrorland.

This anime is exactly what it sounds like. An Alice in Wonderland Parody...the catch being that all the characters are female and are lusting after Miyuki-chan (who I might add is a totally normal high school girl).

So I watched this over Spring Break 2012 with a friend of mine (because we were bored and a had a list of short animes for us to watch--this included Kachou no Koi and Kono Danshi Uchuujin to Tatakaemasu) and we were laughing our butts off and saying "poor Miyuki-chan!"

It's a short and easy watch at the least :D

So. Art!

Top Left to right: 3 cards, 1 card and white roses, Miyuki and the Cheshire Cat
Middle: Miyuki and then the Queen of Hearts
Bottom Left to Right: The March Hare, The Mad Hatter, The door Mouse, Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum (not actually sure which is which) and the Doorknob (2 poses)

Pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Alice in Wonderland parody
  • Interesting idea
  • Art wasn't bad
  • Ah CLAMP
Cons:
  • Alice in Wonderland parody (I mean really? Every anime does an episode...)
  • Poor Miyuki-chan
  • The Queen of Hearts freaks me out...
So there you have it! Short and Sweet!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,
