Anime Blog 34: Boku no Sexual Harassment

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Sexual_Harassment

Ok so I know I said that I would never watch this as long as I lived...because of the corn thing, but in a fit of boredom one night on AarinFantasy I watched it (subbed of course)...and it wasn't as bad as I expected.

Boku no Sexual Harassment is a 3 episode yaoi  series that consists of a newbie at a computer firm, Mochizuki as he performs sexual favors so he and his boss/lover, Honma, can rise in the company hierarchy.

So I felt really bad for Mochizuki, who claims to be straight by the way, and the way Honma used him in the anime...it was really wrong. I mean he was whoring out his boyfriend to other people so that the two of them could rise in the company...I almost wanted the other employee, Fujita to win in the end....(oops Spoiler?). Well anyways...I don't have much to say about this particular anime except that the guy in OVA 2 who got raped with the corn...he deserved it big time.

Art:

(Front to Back: Mochizuki, Honma, Fujita)

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • Short
  • Yaoi (as always)
  • OVA 2 guy got what he deserved
Cons:
  • Kinda creepy honestly
  • Wrong on a number of levels
  • Corn...that is all

I personally won't be watching this again but I can say that I watched it...
Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Anime Blog 33: Eden of the East

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eden_of_the_East
Eden of the East is an 11 episode Shonen? with 2 movies that I watched Subbed.

Ok so to be honest the first time I saw Eden of the East was the first meeting of the Nashi anime club that I attended. The first episode is HILARIOUS! Dude wakes up naked with a cellphone and a gun...and talks to people in English! The show was really confusing but I loved it!

The idea of a game in which you have 12 contestants who are given 10 billion yen to save Japan in some way, shape, or form fascinates me. You use the cellphone to contact a concierge who can grant almost your every wish--for a price...if you run out of money or if you use it selfishly...you get killed :D .

OH! And the censor bars over the "johnnies" are funny little moving white squiggles...it's so cute!

The main character, Akira, wakes up naked (as I mentioned before) with no clue who he is or about the game he's playing. He and our female lead Saki gradually figure it out and try to save Japan. The two movies are sequels to the series and I felt they were actually pretty good.

To show you how sick of a person I am (just kidding!) My favorite competitor, well other than Akira,  was number 11: Shiratori (the serial killer chick). She was hot. I will include a pic.

(L: Akira, R: Saki)

(Shiratori)

So anyways. I really like the opening video for Eden of the East...but I don't care too much for the song...oh well. You should watch the video though, it uses beautiful imagery.

Lets move on to pros and cons

PROS:
  • Really interesting storyline
  • Great comedy
  • Shiratori
  • Short and sweet with a good ending
  • Good sequel movies
CONS:
  • Confusing...
But that's it. So I feel like y'all should watch it! Thanks for reading!

Until Next Time,

Anime Blog 32-Durarara!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durarara!!

Ok so Durarara!! is a 61 episode shonen (that I watched dubbed)

The story follows(???) Mikado Ryugamine, his friend Masaomi and LOTS of other people in Ikebukuro. In Ikebukuro there is a gang war going on, a "black rider" with no head, and two guys just fighting all the time because they hate each other, one of whom has superhuman strength. Now of course there's a real story behind all of that but hey, I'm not gonna be the one who spoils it for you! I will tell you the main gang is "The Dollars", the black rider is named Celty, and the two guys are Shizuo Heiwajima (Crispin Freeman!) and Izaya Orihara (Johnny Yong Bosch!).

The story can definitely get confusing but it's really good I promise! And I LOVE the fact that all the background characters who don't matter don't have faces are aren't colored in...it makes things strangely interesting.
Ok so I'm mostly in it for Shizuo...and I'm a strong supporter of the Shizaya DJ coupling (DJ = Doujinshi, AKA: Fan-fic version of manga)

Also just to fangirl about VA (voice actors) other than the ones mentioned above, Shinra is played by Yuri Lowenthal (Sasuke in Naruto), Kadota is Steve Blum (Vincent Valentine in FF7), Saburo is Spike Spencer (Ginta from MAR among tons more that he's better known for!), & Izaya is Johnny Young Bosch (Ichigo in Bleach among others).

**UPDATE: So after watching season 2: The story gets a bit more confusing but so many things get tied up in the end. So much that was unexpected :) I thoroughly enjoyed this show :) More characters are introduced including a russian assassin girl named Verona and a woman named Kisane Kugiragi. I can tell you Celty gets her head back...but I can't tell you what happens after that :)
They totally left a hint for a sequel though :)

ART!
(L to R): Izaya, Shinra, Shizuo, Masaomi, Mikado, Anri, (Celty on the bike in BG)

Also, Durarara!! has one of my favorite anime openings:

Season 2 was aired in 3 parts and I really like the opening to season 2 part 3!

So time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Really good story
  • Shizuo
  • Nice art
  • Shizaya coupling...
  • Really surprising twists in the storyline
  • NEED I REPEAT MYSELF?
Cons:
  • Can get confusing...a lot...

So there you go! GO WATCH IT...NOW! lol, jkjk

Thanks for reading, Until next time,

**Shipping addition: mentioned it earlier but...I totally ship ShizuoXIzaya**

Anime Blog 31: Devil May Cry: The Animated Series

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_May_Cry:_The_Animated_Series

Alright I'm going to start out by saying that I LOVE the Devil May Cry game series. I've beaten 1-3 and I'm working on 4 now...slow going because the 360 belongs to my little brother and he's back home while I'm up at the college...no DMC4 for me (which let me throw out there...Nero is played by Johnny Yong Bosch...teehee!) Ok enough ranting there.

So the animated series is 12 episodes long and there is a plot but sometimes it doesn't seem like there is one: and I'm totally fine with that because I LOVE Dante! I love that the anime makes him obsessed with strawberry sundaes...it's just hilarious! He's still the same wise-cracking bada** from the games but now he has a weakness: those sundaes man...and pizza...that's all he eats.

Also Lady and Trish are back! And they both cause lots of trouble for Dante that includes (but isn't limited to) stealing his pay and sticking him with shopping bills. There's also that little girl Patty and I'm not sure how I feel about her...she's kinda cute...and she picks on Dante...yeah.

So the art is really nice (not as awesome as the games except in style) and I like that the anime follows Dante in his everyday life...which for him is like hell on Earth most of the time...but hey, a guy's gotta make a living right? Plus Ebony, Ivory, and Rebellion are involved!

ART!

(Dante)

I tried to find one with him, Lady, and Trish in it but I didn't like the one I found!

So time for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Based on Devil May Cry
  • Dante
  • Didn't have a bad story
  • Dante
  • Brought Lady and Trish back
  • Did I mention Dante?
Cons:
  • ...cons...hmm...cons?
So because I actually can't think of any...Pros win! (even if I didn't repeat Dante 3 times!)

Thanks for reading, until next time,

Anime Blog 30: Descendants of Darkness

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Descendants_of_Darkness

Hello once more! I am still alive I promise!

So today's anime is a 13 episode Shojo called Descendants of Darkness. This is actually one I watched recently (and mostly because it has Shonen-ai themes) :)

Ok so quick summary there's this organization that investigates suspicious deaths (by hands of vampires and such...) and Tsuzuki works for them but has no partner. He is partnered up with this new kid named Hisoka. The two originally don't get along but with the help of Uber-evil Dr. Muraki (not the good kind of help) the partners begin to get along and understand each other. After that a lot of Fit hits the Shan (if you know what I mean XD ) and lots of deep dark secrets emerge not only about Hisoka and Muraki's previous "relationship" but things about why Tsuzuki hasn't had a partner in so long and the like.

So I really enjoyed watching this (I saw it Dubbed in case anyone wants to know). I really liked the art and the show itself (except for some of the creepy flashbacks...and Muraki...I don't like Muraki) but even though the show was really confusing I still liked it (especially the Tarot card arc, that was awesome!) And this is really random but Watari (the blonde guy) is played by Eric Stuart who plays James and Brock in Pokémon :p

Now there were some hinted shonen-ai scenes (and some more Yaoi-ish scenes but not in a good way) in the show but the show doesn't really focus on that too much and it doesn't have enough to be counted as shonen-ai by demographic (though I wonder about some shows and their tags...)

So ART!

(L to R: Gushoshin, Muraki, Hisoka, Tsuzuki, Tatsumi, Watari, The other Gushoshin)

But now time for Pros and Cons!

Pros:
  • Shonen-ai-esque
  • Good art
  • Neat story idea
Cons:
  • Creepy Dr. Muraki
  • Really confusing story
Pros seem to outweigh the cons again today! I hope those of you who are interested will give Descendants of Darkness a chance!

Till next time and thanks for reading!

Anime Blog 29: Death Note

Wiki Page

So today's anime is Death Note, a 37 episode Shonen with 3 Live Action movies and an 11 episode Live Action Japanese Drama.

**UPDATE: The end of the Live Action Drama teased a trailer for a 2016 Live Action Movie. This post will be updated after that film is released.

So I watched Death Note when it came on Adult Swim and I fell in love with it! I liked that he became a criminal killer until he went crazy (because they were catching on to him) and had to start killing EVERYONE! I loved the fact that Light was his own antagonist. Oh and I love the fact that L's real name is *SPOILER!* L. Dumbest name ever...

I also thought the live action movies were done really well and casted superbly. However L Change the World was a little weird for me because it changed how things really happened....

On another note this is the anime that I got my mother hooked on. She loves Death Note! She honestly wants one. I was going to buy her one for Christmas but she told me that if it didn't actually work she would kill me...so needless to say, I didn't buy one. I also thoroughly enjoy the opening especially the parody of  Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel ceiling. That was a really nice touch. And Ryuk was just an awesome character...I mean he warned Light at the beginning and actually made good on his promise at the end.

**UPDATE 2015: The Live Action drama was...interesting. It changed Light from a genius into an average guy. The story followed the same basic route and even though I didn't like the actors as much as the Live Action Movie actors, they weren't too bad. My main complaint: That Near and Mello were one character. Apparently Near has a split personality and that's who Mello is...that was weird for me. Not a fan. But I did actually like Misa in this version. Not 100% sure why but I actually liked her a lot in this version :D

So for fans of the show, you may or may not like it. Depending on a number of things. I personally liked it well enough, the anime was better, but it was ok :D

Anywayz...ART!

(Bottom L to Bottom Right: Near, L, Light (middle), Misa, and Mello)

(L to R: L, Ryuk (in back), Light, Rem (Back), Misa)

Ryuk, Light, L, and Near

But yeah...and Opening!
Ok time for pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Unique storyline
  • Protagonist is own Antagonist
  • Well done casting (for the live actions)
  • Really good story
Cons:
  • Watching Light go crazy can be a bit much sometimes...
Yeah but that's about it. I can't find any other cons with it really!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

~Kei23

Anime Blog 28: Bus Gamer

Well...after forever I have returned. For those of you who actually follow this you will have noticed that I no longer post anything about my anime forum; unfortunately it's dead and burned and from now on I'm going to go back and post the wiki page (or equivalent) to give extra info for those of you who care about what really happened in the anime! :D

Wiki Page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bus_Gamer

Moving on: Bus Gamer was 3 episodes of OMG I LOVE THIS SHOW! The premise was that a whole bunch of companies in some city (probably Tokyo) are going to play a game involving 3-man teams fighting over a disk that contains all of an individual company's secrets. Basically protect your team's disk at all costs and try to steal the other team's disk. People actually send in applications for this game because depending on the number of rounds you win...the more money you get.

3 random people turn in an application and all 3 of them leave one question on the application blank...thus they become a team and have to work together...they're all completely different.  Toki is a really good fighter, Nobuto is also a good fighter (but in a different style) and is really good at information gathering, and Kazuo is mostly useless...in a fight that is. He's good at solving puzzles and setting traps.

I'm not 100% sure why I love this show so much but I REALLY WANT MORE OF THIS! It had plenty of action and comedy...but no romance...and strangely I liked it that way!

So as always ART!:
(L to R: Kazuo, Toki, and Nobuto)

It's time once more for pros and cons!

Pros:
  • Nice art
  • Awesome story

Cons:
  • Too short (so there's no ending...)

Since there's only 1 con...PROS WIN!

Thanks for reading!
Until next time,

Kei
